From spearheading Hispanic Heritage Month in 1986, organizing the first multicultural awareness week-long event in Goddard, Kansas in 1996, to organizing cultural awareness workshops for educators, she’s dedicated herself to promoting diversity awareness in schools and businesses. In addition to educational initiatives in the 1980’s Margarita organized community meetings with new immigrants, helping bridge gaps in communication and understanding in Wichita’s vibrant community.
